I Samuel 3 In My Words
This is about when God called Samuel. First, Samuel was sitting in his bed. Then he got called by God. He got up and went to Eli and said "Here I am." Eli said I did not call you, go back to sleep. Then Samuel got called again by God. He then went to Eli and said "Here I am" again. God repeated it two more times. Samuel ran out of the door and said "Here I am."
By that time, Eli knew that the Lord was calling Samuel. He said go back to your bed and the next time he calls you say, "Speak my Lord your servant is listening." God called once more. Then Samuel said, "Speak for your servant is listening." The Lord spoke he said that he will carry out all he promised against Eli’s family. Then the Lord left. Eli called Samuel. Eli said tell me everything the Lord said and don’t hide anything from me or else may God have mercy on your soul. So Samuel told him everything and he did not hide anything, and Eli said let the Lord do what is right in his eyes.
