"Speak, Lord for your servant is listening." - I Samuel 3:10

"Commit yourselves to the Lord and serve him only."

-I Samuel 7:3

1Samuel 3
How Samuel serves God

--Samuel, even as a boy, understood himself as a servant. He wanted to please Eli, and he recognized that Eli needed his help, and he wanted to give it.

--Samuel accepted the responsibility that much older people should have been carrying in the temple.

--Samuel listened. He listened first to Eli. Then when Eli told him to listen to the voice he kept hearing, he listened to God.

Relevance

Samuel did not hear the Lord the first, or second time the Lord had called him; he was not ready.
How do we know if we are ready to become a servant of God?”

A person with the willingness to help other people is one who is ready to because a servant. The willingness to do what has been asked of you and is reliable.

Responsibility is key for a servant of God. Samuel was certainly responsible in his life of serving God. With responsibilty, you are able to see/hear when the Lord is calling for you to serve.
